A Time for Transformation

Staying home for weeks on end sure does have a way of making those home improvement projects feel more important than ever. The good news is, sometimes small design improvements can make a world of difference.

After spending months social distancing and staying home during the COVID-19 pandemic, you’ve probably spent lots of time thinking about all the overdue home improvement projects you’ve imagined doing one day … that now seem more pressing and overdue than ever! Whether you’re working from home or just staying put more than usual, there’s nothing like spending weeks confined to your living space to reveal the impact a functional, aesthetically pleasing environment that fits your lifestyle, can have on quality of life. Fortunately, spending more time at home has probably also provided a unique opportunity to think critically about how you’d like your living space to change. The good news is, sometimes small design improvements can make a world of difference.

Below are examples of two recently completed design projects, each showing photos taken before, and after, remodeling.  Both projects involved master bathrooms made over from the ground up: new flooring, shower and bath backsplash, countertops and cabinets, light fixtures, window treatments, wall colors, and shower tile. Both were completed in just four to six weeks, with close consultation between designers, contractors, and clients throughout. From helping you decide if you really need that chandelier above your tub (the answer is always a resounding yes!), to choosing a shower tile you’ll want to look at for the next twenty years, our designers are there every step of the way. Why? Because if the last two months have taught us anything at all, it’s that the details matter!

CENTRAL

This Central home’s master bathroom belongs to a longtime SSA client, who worked with Melane on the  original remodel back in the late nineties. Now, more than two decades later, Melane’s daughter Erin designed its replacement. It goes to show that while your Signature style might evolve as trends come and go, keeping a close relationship with a designer you know and trust never goes out of style.

Gone are the ‘90s era gold trim shower, the dark floral wallpaper, the forest green tile flooring, and frosted glass windows; they’ve been replaced with light neutral tones, new tile flooring, marble look tile in the shower and bathtub, and shutters to allow more natural light to enter, to name a few modifications.

Inside this master bathroom in Zachary, our client traded dark walls for an updated, bright interior that makes the room feel twice as big. We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: you’ll be amazed at what a simple coat of paint can do for a space! Designed by Storm, the candle-style beaded chandelier and modern artwork make the bathtub alcove the star of the show, serving as the room’s focal point and drawing together the tub splash’s gold and grey tones.

Storm’s attention to detail can be seen in the hardware throughout: from the matching gold faucets on the bathtub, shower, and sinks, to the gold cabinet pulls and light fixtures.

Your bathroom should be a haven of rest and relaxation that you never want to leave. I like to tell our clients that by the time we’re finished, your only worry will be hiking up the water bill.”  —Storm Lantrip
